Ellonero 2020 Etna Rosso – Battiato

Nerello Mascalese dal versante orientale della montagna, fermentazione poi affinamento in tonneau e acciaio. Di ispirazione è un vino artigianale.

Il colore tende al granato, mostra fin da subito un carattere peculiare con profilo olfattivo centrato sui sentori vegetali di piante aromatiche e muschio, poi cenere spenta, resina e solo in secondo piano i ricordi di frutta che a me fanno sovvenire il corbezzolo e la bacca di Goji. Certamente peculiare, ma a mio avviso difetta un po’ in precisione/finezza..

Il Vino è ben sapido, con buon equilibrio, media densità e freschezza, tannini ruspanti con ritorno di frutto maturo e timo/rosmarino. Un po’ monotematico, ma si conferma al palato l’identità peculiare di questo vino che, seppure non abbia trovato entusiasmante, intendo riprovare.

Ellonero 2020 Etna Rosso – Battiato

Nerello Mascalese from the eastern side of the mountain, fermentation then aging in tonneau and steel. Of inspiration it is an artisanal wine.

The color tends towards garnet, it immediately shows a peculiar character with an olfactory profile centered on the vegetal hints of aromatic plants and moss, then spent ash, resin and only in the background the memories of fruit which remind me of strawberry tree and berry. of Goji. Certainly peculiar, but in my opinion it lacks a little in precision/finesse.

The wine is very tasty, with good balance, medium density and freshness, free-range tannins with a return of ripe fruit and thyme/rosemary. A little monothematic, but the peculiar identity of this wine is confirmed on the palate and, even if I didn’t find it exciting, I intend to try it again.
