Merlot 2016 – Edi Keber

Mentre finisco questa unica bottiglia del Merlot di Edi Keber, ultimo reperto della visita in cantina nel novembre 2019, apprendo che è un progetto che verrà abbandonato per seguire i vitigni autoctoni del Collio. Nonostante la grande passione che nutro per i vitigni autoctoni del Collio, mi dolgo della cosa e del non aver comprato altre bottiglie di questo ottimo Merlot. Perché è ottimo essenzialmente. Espressivo, di carattere, intenso ed elegante al contempo.

Rosso scuro giovanile, profumi di mora e cassis, ricordi balsamici e di erbe aromatiche, al pari di altri omologhi del territorio trova il suo epicentro gustativo nella tensione tra morbidezze, la vellutata stoffa e una acidità dotata di un certo sprint. Ampio, gustoso, dal buon finale centrato sul frutto scuro.

As I finish this single bottle of Edi Keber’s Merlot, the last find of the visit to the cellar in November 2019, I learn that it is a project that will be abandoned to follow the native Collio vines. Despite the great passion I have for the native Collio vines, I regret this and not having bought more bottles of this excellent Merlot. Because it’s essentially great. Expressive, with character, intense and elegant at the same time.

Youthful dark red, aromas of blackberry and cassis, hints of balsamic and aromatic herbs, like other counterparts in the area, it finds its gustatory epicenter in the tension between softness, the velvety texture and an acidity with a certain sprint. Large, tasty, with a good finish centered on the dark fruit.
